Just a brief note to let you know that Sam arrived safely at the new rehab ward this afternoon.

We think ...

hope ...

(pray ???)

that it's going to be really good.

We visited on the way to London on Thursday and got some really good feelings about it.

Fingers crossed.

Yes I know - my posting is just like waiting for a bus. You don't see one for ages then two come along together.

Jane had an email today from a friend we have met via this blog. She finished off the email:
Miss Mike's blog postings.
So maybe I'll try to keep you all up to date.

But don't get too excited. I'm going to visit my sister tomorrow until after the weekend so I shan't be posting for a few days.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in such a long while. You must have wondered what has happened to me

I've actually had a bad cold for nearly three weeks that I haven't been able to shake off. It has exacerbated my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome symptoms and has laid me very low recently. I've had little energy for anything very much. I guess it has hit my motivation as well and so I've found posting here more difficult.

I have also been using what little energy I've had elsewhere and have been trying to do some more with my photographic work and websites.

It's possible that I may try to work on some of the writings here to make them available to a wider audience. I would be interested if any of you have any views on this.

In the meantime I may not publish here quite as often though I will try to ensure that I keep regular readers up to date. It has not been fulfilling it's original function in quite the same way any longer as being therapeutic for me - though that may change. There are also now more people who I know who read it which can make it more difficult to be totally open about hopes and fears.

However I did also plan for it to be useful and supportive to other carers and recent emails have helped me realise that is still the case.

So I will try - but do forgive me if I am not as prolific as in the past.

A special thank you to those of you who have sent me kind thoughts and best wishes.

-And Sam???

He's doing very well.

We took him out on leave for the first time from his current hospital last weekend and that was great. He may be moving to a private rehab hospital very soon. The funding has only just been agreed (despite the proposal at the CPA meeting having been several weeks ago.) But as it is cheaper I guess they'll be keen to move him soon!

Sorry for the big gap in posting. I've not been so well ...

I have tried - but it's still in draft.

However the following two emails which I received yesterday may spur me to write properly again soon.

The first was from a regular reader of the blog:

Dear Mike, it is sad not to read your news. I hope everything with Sam and your family is fine.
My best wishes. G

The second from a new reader:

Mike I found your blog last night. I hope you are well, I notice you have
not written in it lately, but can understand how difficult it must be.
...
Reading your blog I found really helpful as I could relate to so much of it. You have my sympathy - and admiration. Regards A

Thank you to both of you. I know you are both carers too and understand.

I may try to publish again tomorrow - but then hope to visit my sister in London for a few days, in which case it will be next week.
